A Beauty

"Four nudes, four cultures. I made this painting as one of my 'couch' series thinking about a Montana River angling trip and the reference my male friends used to describe both a nice fish and an attractive woman. Culturally, the classic paintings of women hanging on the wall from left to right are an American female nude by Carl Freiseke, a Japanese woodblock print of a courtesan by Utamaro, and a reclining nude by Modigliani, during his Paris years."
