This notecard is reproduced from an acrylic painting on panel.

The painting was created in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Montana's Scapegoat Wilderness.

Hush of the land refers to a phrase popularized in public testimony given to Congress in 1968; at that time the legendary Tom"Hobnail" Edwards testified before the Congressional Subcommittee on Public Lands; he and other local citizens had organized to try to designate the Lincoln Back Country and parts of the Lewis and Clark and Lolo National Forests as wilderness.
