Dancing Cranes
Monte Dolack
18 x 18
1995
Edition Size: 375
Beautifully reproduced from an acrylic painting portraying rare whooping cranes engaged in a mating dance. This image was inspired by Monte's travels in Asia after seeing the white-napped cranes in the rice fields. He has taken this vision and idealized it, with the cranes dancing against a bright orange sky, superimposed with the continents (signifying the crane's migration), behind a low-hanging sun. Dancing Cranes was used on the cover of the Montana Mandolin Society's C.D. Dance of the Sandhill. This image is also available as a note card.
